We are all wanting to find bigger and better stuff than last time, or find our FIRST of something...but a great collection is not found in ONE hunt!  LOL

The aim of FOSSIL FUNATICS is to provide a nurturing environment where people want to become ENGAGED in learning. We try to assist other hunters with "hot Spots" for finding good stuff.  We will scoop some good gravel to help fill the sifter  here and there... we will be scouting around for other spots for our guest hunt...

RESPECT NATURE

After a nice day on the water, take home everything you brought. Dont let your garbage become MY problem. ENJOY the beautiful foliage and fauna, find many fossils, take lots of pictures,  but leave ONLY your footprints behind.

   We are not CRAZY overboard...but we do OUR best to recycle, reduce consumption, and re-use what we can! We are often involved in Eco-Tours, wher we spend part of out time doing RIVER CLEAN-UP.  It is amazing the ODD things collected from the...

BE AWARE of the REAL NATURE

There are ALWAYS manmade dangers in the waters of our rivers, creeks, and streams, so be ready. Broken glass, metal scraps, old tires, and all other household items end up in the water. WATCH OUT!  Of course, Mother Nature has many things to be aware of too. SNAKES, ALLIGATORS, and Insects are at home living in our waterways, as it offerst the perfect ecosystem. Show your respect by using caution, keeping a safe distance and shhoting ONLY pictures!

Flodida fossil collecting

Use Judgement. There are many Florida laws pertaining to the collection of fossils and artifacts, a hobby many of us dedicate LOTS of time and money into. Unless you are only hunting shark teeth, USE a properly permited  guide. NO permit is required for collection of shark teeth, but its a great idea anyway! it promotes ethical collectiong and cataloging of intristing specimens, and it helps track the # of people interested in our hobby.Permits are required for fossil collection, or...
